Coolpix S570 review at Steve's Digicams
"The Nikon CoolPix S570 is a mixed bag of slowness and great images, ease of use and and image distorting LCD." |
Coolpix S570 review at TrustedReviews
"Although the Nikon CoolPix S570 has a fairly average specification and lacks a number of useful and popular features, it is very well made, easy and fun to use, and handles extremely well. It has above average performance, works well in low light, and the image quality is also better than most others in its class. All in all, the S570 is excellent value for money." |

D3S review at PopPhoto
"In the field, this Nikon performed flawlessly. The Matrix metering did a great job of choosing the right exposure, being fooled only by the toughest scenarios. The 51-point Multi-CAM 3500FX autofocus system worked wonderfully with the 3D Color Matrix Metering II system to track subjects by shape and color." |

D3000 review at Shutterbug
"For beginners it’s a competitive model with most of the features you’ll enjoy and need to make very good images, and there’s no doubt that it and the system surrounding it will yield a decided advantage over a point-and-shoot model in a similar price range." |

A Unique Photo Shootout Featuring David Bergman and Robert Caplin: Canon 1D Mark IV Versus Nikon D3S
"So who wins the shootout? When it comes to high ISO, both cameras excel, but the Nikon D3S edges out the Canon. Autofocus performance is excellent on both cameras, with the Canon being slightly more responsive." |
Coolpix S570 review at CameraLabs
"The most oustanding thing about the COOLPIX S570 is its picture quality which in our outdoor real-life tests and gallery shots proved to be every bit as good as the more expensive cameras it was up against. The COOLPIX S570 has some significant shortcomings though, the most important of which is the ineffectiveness of its electronic VR (Vibration Reduction) technology which processes photos in the camera to reduce the effects of camera shake." |
Coolpix S640 review at TrustedReviews
"Although it doesn't live up to Nikon's extravagent marketing claims, the CoolPix S640 is still a very competent camera. Build quality is good, it handles well, performs briskly and takes a decent picture in a wide range of situations; low light performance is especially good. It's not quite a bargain, but it is a nice little camera." |

43-86mm f3.5 AI review by Fredrik Rasmussen
"Without a doubt the worst lens I've tried so far, at least on the FX format. The performance of this classic Nikkor lens is so bad it's almost indescribable. It's like you have to try it to see how bad the lens is." |
Sigma 18-50mm f2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM review at ePhotozine
"Overall, this lens isn't a bad performer and will suit those looking either for a replacement upgrade to their standard 18-55mm kit lens, or a solid starter lens that covers the standard focal ranges." |
Final D3S review at ePhotozine
"It is a thoroughly inspirational piece of kit to use and that in itself justifies its price tag immediately. Its high ISO sensitivity means you can carry on shooting in the poorest ambient light and without using a tripod. That would count for nothing if the results from using the high ISOs were poor and unusable, but they are not." |

18-200mm f3.5-5.6G AF-S VR II review by Peter K. Burian
"I have tested many “all-in-one” lenses and the AF-S DX Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II model been the best of the group. It’s certainly not inexpensive but this one deserves my Best Value award in the 18-200mm category." |
Shooting the 16Fish by Moose Peterson
"It’s 180 degrees uncorrected coverage is just amazing! You might think such a lens more gimmick then tool, but it’s gorgeously sharp. One of more common uses of the 16Fish is for the landscape. This is a great lens for that purpose." |
Coolpix S1000pj Review at PhotographyBLOG
"Discounting that one big trick, it is a fairly average point-and-shoot camera with so-so image quality, mostly undersized buttons, no proper manual control over exposure or focusing, and a rather disappointing video mode. Having a 28mm equivalent wide angle lens is a nice touch, though a lot less of a rarity than it used to be." |
Solving Monitor Profiling Problems by EarthboundLight
"There are a number of hardware/software monitor profiling packages on the market from vendors such as X-Rite and DataColor. Most users are amazed at the improvement the first time they use one. But occasionally I hear from someone for whom things didn't go so well. If you've had problems profiling your monitor, here are some possible fixes." |
Why Nikon as Video Cam Doesn’t Stand Up to Canon as Video Cam by Scott Bourne
"This is a post describing why Canon DSLRs have the lead in the fusion space. Comparing the video from a D3s to a Canon 1DMKIV, serious video/filmmaker types (and those who aspire to be serious like me) prefer the Canon." |
X-Rite ColorChecker Passport by NikonLinks Editor
"Seeing what the X-Rite ColorChecker Passport did for my recent hockey photos has me sold on the merits on using custom camera profiles wherever and whenever practicable. It lays waste to my previous attitude and assumptionof merely clicking on a white portion of an image or using a WB card to set the WB as an utterly ignorant method of getting the most from my RAW files. After seeing the results above, there's no going back to my previous way of editing." |

Soft Proofing Isn't Hard by EarthboundLight
"The idea behind soft proofing is use your printer profile in a way to let you see on your monitor how an image will print, without actually printing it. Epson adds Tethered Shooting to their P6000/P7000 Backup Units by Terry White

I turned on both devices and enabled tethered shooting on the P6000." |
How does FPS & Buffer Effect Your Photography? by Moose Peterson
"What I did at the Reno Air Races is go back to the “old” way of making the image in order to get the amazing image quality of the D3x to produce one of a kind aviation 24×30 prints. I sacrificed the ease of blasting away to make the shot to the stressful one click get the shot method." |

D3X review at DigitalCameraReview
"Given the D3x's cost and specifications, it's clear that this is a highly specialized camera that will appeal to professionals who need or want large image files.
However, photographers whose work demands highly detailed images (or advanced amateurs with a hefty bank account) won't be disappointed with the D3x's image quality and highly sophisticated feature set." |
SB-400 flash review by Fredrik Rasmussen
"If you are a casual shooter and you want to get rid of those rather ugly shadows that the built in flashes make, the SB-400 is perfect." |
New Nikon D3s by Dave Black
"The NEW Nikon D3s camera is well worth the money and a definite improvement over the D3. A new standard of high ISO has been set and the D3s is the undisputed king. Not only are its clean High ISO levels 1 and 1/3 higher than a D3, but I believe the D3s handles the shadow areas cleaner and with more edge detail as well. The ISO setting of 6400 is now a cleaner and almost noiseless reality, and compares closely to the quality of the D3 camera at ISO2500. ISO12,800 looks great and is very similar to the ISO of 4000 on an older D3." |
